Outcome Pricing
Charging for results (resolved tickets, completed workflows, deflected requests) instead of seats or consumption of steps. For AI-agent products it is the structurally honest model: if the agent does the work, per-seat pricing collapses, so vendors price the outcome.
Why it matters here
- Value alignment. Sierra’s “escalation-is-free / pay-per-resolution” model is the cleanest exemplar — it removes the sales-commission-vs-outcome-value misalignment. See pricing-benchmarks-ai-itsm-2026 and founder-operating-playbooks-2026.
- AI-ITSM relevance. Ties directly to the services-budget thesis and outcome- vs step-automation — you can only price the outcome if you actually own/deliver it.
- COGS discipline. Outcome pricing only works if per-resolution token/compute cost clears gross margin (see ai-compute-token-cost-trends-2026).
