Background
- Patients Know Best (2010) — joined early team of UK-based co giving patients control over medical records.
- Chartio — co-founded with Dave Fowler. “Crash courses in just how much I didn’t know about building companies.”
- Angel investing in parallel; Sunil Dhaliwal at Amplify reached out as the first fund was getting started.

This is direct rapport surface w/ Sazzad (who uses Claude Code daily for the init wiki + the agents that drive it). David is one of the few investors actively building on Claude Code, not just talking about agents. Reference his projects sincerely if it comes up.

Why this matters for init.inc
- Frontier-tech + applied-AI thesis = direct fit for init’s AI-MSP wedge.
- “Lunatic Fringe” framing = init is exactly that (back-office services rebuilt with AI, lots of skeptics → exact archetype he describes).
- Claude Code shared ground = unique rapport edge.
- ⚠️ Amplify just passed init via Mike (5/27, crowded-market objection) — but David was IN that meeting. Door’s “intellectual partnership warm.” Re-touch in next round could go through David rather than Mike (different focus area: David is ML-infra/toolchain, more aligned w/ init’s tech depth than Mike’s vertical-AI thesis).
