Howie Liu

Co-founder and CEO of Airtable — the no-code/low-code app platform (now pushing enterprise AI workflows + agents) — and an active enterprise-software angel investor.

Snapshot

  • Now: Co-founder & CEO, Airtable (since 2013; confirmed current — CNBC Feb 2026, LinkedIn May 2026, Crunchbase, Clay Apr 2026).
  • Archetype (for init): Founder Network — enterprise/no-code founder-angel.
  • Warm path: Sourced via Saga Ventures (Max Altman angel idea #2, 6/1).

Why an init.inc angel target

  • Enterprise back-office-workflow credibility. Airtable’s whole arc — turning data + processes into apps, now into AI agents/“Hyperagent” — is squarely the back-office-automation territory init plays in. A founder-angel who scaled that to ~$375M revenue is a high-signal name on the cap table.
  • Prolific, on-thesis angel. ~15–19 angel checks (Decagon, Fireworks AI, Miro, Runway, Sundial, Galileo AI, Airplane, Ampersand), concentrated in enterprise apps / dev tools / applied AI — exactly init’s adjacency. ^[single-source]
  • No-code distribution intuition. Deep founder POV on getting non-technical teams to adopt software — directly relevant to init’s “AI employees for back-office work” GTM.

Conflict screen

  • Loose-tie. Holds an angel check in 8Flow (enterprise workflow-mapping / agent-enablement for support ops, founded by ex-ServiceNow people). 8Flow is adjacent to init’s ITSM/AI-MSP space but is an enablement/mapping layer that integrates into ServiceNow/Salesforce, not a head-to-head AI-MSP competitor — and it is not on init’s named competitor list. Portfolio company Decagon is external customer-experience (CX) support, a different category from internal ITSM. No angel/advisor/board check in any named init competitor (Serval, Console, Atomicwork, Ravenna, Moveworks, Aisera, etc.).
  • Running Airtable is career history, not an angel-investment conflict — even though Airtable’s agent push is thesis-adjacent.
