Salesforce Ventures

Snapshot

  • Founded: 2009
  • HQ: SF
  • Parent: Salesforce (CRM)
  • Stage: Multi-stage CVC; AppExchange + Slack-first AI investments
  • Cap-table conflict status: Cap-table-clean institutionally across all 8 Init Intelligence competitors as of 2026-05-05. But soft-conflicted via parent — see below.

Re-tier (May 2026): from Tier-C clean lane → “needs careful partner mapping”

Salesforce announced Feb 26, 2026 that 180 organizations have replaced legacy ITSM with Agentforce IT Service in the four months since GA, including “five ServiceNow customers taken.” Salesforce CEO publicly cited the win-rate. (Salesforce IR; Register coverage)

Facts for Init Intelligence:

  • Salesforce parent is now a direct ITSM competitor in the same Slack-first / Microsoft-Teams-ready / “purchase to production in weeks” wedge that Ravenna, Console, and (architecturally) Init Intelligence all play in.
  • Agentforce IT Service overlap = parent-CVC soft conflict. A Salesforce Ventures check would create board-attention conflict with the parent’s product strategy; the parent’s ITSM ambitions weigh on internal clearance.
  • Related CVC facts: Microsoft M12 carries an Atomicwork conflict; HubSpot Ventures is already on the Edra cap table (not initlabs-relevant).

Lead deal partners (needs research)

^[needs-research] — Paul Drews and John Somorjai are senior leadership; specific deal partners for AI agents / IT verticals have not been deep-researched.

Conflict status

Soft conflict via parent product overlap. Slack + Service Cloud + AppExchange distribution remains relevant for an AI ITSM company, but a Salesforce Ventures check creates board-level competitive friction given the parent’s Agentforce IT Service. Atomicwork’s Okta Ventures arrangement is a CVC pattern-analog (may not transfer).
